Shanwei Introduction

Shanwei city, situated in the coastal area of southeastern Guangdong Province, is bordered by Jieyang, Huizhou and Heyuan, facing southwards to the South China Sea. It has a 302 kilometers (188 miles) long coastline with totally 93 islands of all size in its sea area. There is a population of 3,153,600 and area of 5,271 square kilometers (2,035 square miles).There is o­ne district (City Zone), two counties (Haifeng, Luhe) and o­ne county-level city (Lufeng) Shanwei city lies in the south foot of Lianhua Mountain facing south to the sea. The northern part of the city is mainly consisted of mountainous areas, while the hills and terraces are generally distributed in the central area. The south coastal part of Shanwei is occupied by plains. o­n the whole, the mountainous and hilly areas make up the major land of the city.
Shanwei city lies in the south foot of Lianhua Mountain facing south to the sea. The city enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate with obvious oceanic features. The weather is temperate and it is rich in rainfall and sunshine. Usually, its rainy season begins from the late March to early April and ends in the mid-October. The average temperature in the coldest January and hottest July are respectively 14 C (57 F) and 28 C (82 F).
For the moderate weather of the whole year, Shanwei is favorable for visiting at any seasons. Rain gear should be the primary priority during the flood season (April to September).

Shanwei Traffic

In Shanwei, there is Shenzhen-Shantou Expressway and 324 National Road running through the whole territory, which link up Shenzhen, Shanwei, Guangdong Shantou, and other southeastern coastal cities. All the city's major highway for the construction of cement roads and traffic are good. Shanwei bus station ,in the urban area south of the four road near Shanwei, being the highway passenger transportation hub, has been opened to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, and other major cities in the province of the city and the county's rapid passenger train.

From the Guangzhou Tianhe Bus Station, buses to Shanwei depart every 30 to 60 minutes taking about three hours and a half. Shenzhen Yinhu Bus Station and Luohu Bus Station also offer buses to Shantou costing about two and a half hours. Shanwei central bus station is situated in the Hebaoling, Haishan Road, where buses to around cities and counties are provided.

There is no Airport in Shanwei City. You can go to Shenzhen or Shantou airport firstly, and then take a bus to Shanwei. Shenzhen is 224 km from the urban area, is 207 kilometers from Shantou. As for Railway construction, they will actively coordinate and assist in promoting the Xiamen Railway Shanwei sections of the building, for all built in 2010 opening at the end of 2006 to start building. In Shanwei City,there is a developed public transport. Public transportation throughout the urban area around the site, taxi fares starting three yuan, by quickly and easily.

Shanwei Festivals
