Jin Hill Features

Highlights
Jinshan Temple is indispensable to the renown of Jinshan Hill Park.
This temple can be traced back as early as the Eastern Jin dynasty (317 - 420), and has had a history of more than 1,600 years. The temple was known as Zexin Temple or Longyou Temple; however, people have been calling it Jinshan Temple since the Tang dynasty (618 - 907). Jinshan Temple was built according to the mountain features. All the pavilions, terraces and towers are in harmony with their surroundings. Besides the beautiful scenes, many legends are associated with this park, too. A widely spread legend, ‘the White Snake', happened in the temple. This story mainly tells about the love story between Bai Suzhen, who was a magic snake and changed herself into a beautiful girl, and Xu Xian who was forced to be a monk in Jinshan Temple at the latter part of the story. It is this story that makes most Chinese people get to know Jinshan Temple.
