Brief Introduction

Hongchiba alpine grassland is located in Wuxi County, covering an area of nearly 20,000 acres. Its altitude is 1800-2500 meters. It consists of a number of karst trough flat grounds. In recent years, Chinese Academy of Sciences carried out many research activities. Currently there are sheep, fritillary, American ginseng and other Chinese herbal plant bear fruit. This is also a good place where you can carry out summer and winter skiing activities.

There are three ponds in Hongchiba Scenic Area. Although the three ponds are not far from each other, the three are totally different from each other. The colors of the three ponds are red, green and black. The red pond is called Hongchi in Chinese, that is also how the Hongchiba got its name.

Hongchiba is rich in corn, potatoes, seasonal beans, sunflower and Chinese cabbage and radish. There are also more than 300 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines planted here. In recent years, American ginseng and deer farming are also successfully introduced in Hongchiba Grassland. Hongchiba is also suitable for bee farming. The annual output of honey is 20 tons

Not far from the grassland, there is a world famous spectacle called Summer Ice Cave. In summer, the water inside the cave is frozen into ice.
